General - FEB Radio International's sole purpose is to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world by radio - currently in over 150 languages. In so doing, the ministry seeks to cooperate with, and augment, existing missionary efforts and the work of Christian ministries worldwide.
World By Radio Project - Evolved from the World By 2000 Project, this joint venture involves FEB Radio International and other major missionary radio ministries - HCJB World Radio, and Trans World Radio, (in association with broadcast-related ministries such as Back to the Bible, Galcom, IBRA Radio, SIM, and Words of Hope) ... "To provide every man, woman, and child on earth, the opportunity to turn on a radio and hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a language they can understand, so they can become followers of Christ and responsible members of His church."
FEB Radio International consists of autonomous and semi-autonomous national boards, each with various responsibilities contributing to the total ministry. The majority of national boards are grouped under one of two sister organizations: Far East Broadcasting Company, Inc. of La Mirada, California, U.S.A. founded in 1945; or Feba of Worthing, West Sussex, U.K. founded in 1970.
Radio is the foundation and major thrust of the ministry, but not the only tool that FEB Radio International uses to impact lives for Christ.
Coverage - FEB Radio International's signals cover Southern and Eastern Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Pakistan, India, Central and Southeast Asia, China, Russia, the South Pacific, the Indian Ocean Islands, Australia, and New Zealand.
Personnel - More than 1,200 people serve with FEB Radio International worldwide. Over 95 percent of the staff are nationals, ministering to their own people.
Facilities - FEB Radio International owns and operates 40 shortwave, AM, and FM radio transmitters. Major transmission sites (with studios and offices) are located in the Philippines, Saipan (near Guam), and South Korea. Ministry recording studios and/or offices are also located in Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Cyprus, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Malawi, Mongolia, Mozambique, Myanmar (Burma), New Zealand, Pakistan, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, and Zimbabwe.
Broadcasting Data - Collectively, FEB Radio International stations broadcast in more than 600 program-hours daily in nearly 130 languages and dialects. The ministry's radio signal can be heard in more than 100 countries, which represent a potential listening audience of two-thirds of the world's population.
Programming - National staff members write, record, and host most of the great variety of programs FEB Radio International broadcasts - the remainder is provided by other Christian organizations. From time to time, FEB Radio International produces programs to complement the efforts of other ministries. Radio Programs include Bible studies, music, news, preaching, seminary courses, drama, live call-in shows, health, and agricultural education - all designed to lead listeners to Christ, disciple and encourage them, and train many for church leadership. All programs that are broadcast must be in line with FEB Radio International's predetermined programming objectives for a particular audience. Whenever possible, FEB Radio International's programming staff visit their potential listeners - to ensure that the programs will meet the needs of the people.
Response - An average of more than 70,000 responses from listeners are received by FEB Radio International offices each month. Listeners communicate via letter, phone, fax, e-mail, test message ... or by personal visits to ministry offices. Many listeners cannot afford to write, or choose not to - for fear of persecution. Often, authorities intercept these letters. Nearly as many non-Christians write as do believers. Typically, appreciation is expressed, often with questions or requests for help.
Follow-up - National staff members respond to listeners' requests with Bibles, literature, counsel, Bible correspondence material, etc. Where the situation allows, personal contact is arranged. Moreover, listeners are encouraged to join local Christian fellowships.
In addition to regular listener follow-up, literature, cassette tapes and CDs are made available; for instance, the Indonesian ministry operates a Christian bookstore in Jakarta.
In recent years, the growing demand for "instant counselling" has been met by live phone-in programs in the Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, Africa, and other areas. Many listeners have received much-needed encouragement and support from ministry counsellors, who often pray with the listeners during the program "on the air". Several ministry offices also offer counselling help by phone.
The radio ministry plays a vital role as an "emergency response voice" to listeners in devastated areas, where major natural disasters have occurred.
Your sermons have blessed me and taught me how to fix broken relationships at a time when my Mom and I were arguing a lot. Now we have a good relationship. Thank you for your programs.- Indonesia
